Featured Listing vs free directories
Many makers submit the same product to free directories. A Featured Listing on Launch is a different product: paid, curated, and limited. Neither option guarantees traffic.
Free directory submissions
Free directories usually accept a self-serve form or API post. Review ranges from none to light. You often get a listing page among many others. Some directories are useful for discovery; many are low-signal. Results vary widely, and a free listing does not mean readers will visit.
What Featured Listing is for
Launch Featured Listing is a curated slot on our own site: seven days on the homepage plus a permanent directory page after human review. We keep the bar intentional — no open UGC wall where anyone can spam a link. You pay once if approved. We do not sell marketplace commissions on your sales.
Honest trade-offs
- Cost: free directories cost time; Featured Listing costs $49 after approval (price may change).
- Control: free directories decide their own rules and ranking; Featured Listing places you on Launch under our review.
- Volume: free directories can scale to thousands of listings; Featured Listing stays curated and slower.
- Traffic: neither path promises visits. Treat both as placements, not ads with a delivery guarantee.
When Featured Listing is a poor fit
Skip it if you need guaranteed impressions, if your product is not ready for a public URL, or if you only want a bulk backlink farm. Apply only if a short, human-reviewed placement on Launch is useful on its own terms.
We do not claim that a Featured Listing outperforms every free directory. Compare the actual placement you want, then decide.
See what you get, then how to apply.
